Dress Little Black

 

Once again this week the little black dress has been making some stunning red carpet appearances. The queen of fashion Angelina Jolie appeared on the red carpet for the premiere of her new film ‘Salt’ wearing a strapless sequined black Armani number that showed off her fabulous legs. She teamed this with nude shoes and a single black bracelet of her own design to really make her LBD stand out. Anna Mouglalis wore Chanel to a screening of ‘Coco Chanel and Igor Stravinsky’. She was ahead of the fashion pack, wearing next seasons minimalist trend with a plain black knee length dress teamed with a sheer cardigan, touching on this seasons trend of underwear as outerwear.

While at the Tiesto concert in Victoria Park at the end of July, as promised I kept my eyes open for some great examples of outdoor festival style and there were plenty to chose from. As the weather held out for the day, overcast but not cold, the clear winner for festival style was denim shorts, gladiators and boho tops. Many were taking the boho look as far as they could with flowered hair bands and henna body art. For those who didn’t want to bear all in little shorts, skinny jeans or jeggings were the way to go,black and white dresses, allowing a little more freedom in choice of t-shirt. I thnk one of my favourite looks was black skinnies teamed with biker boots, a plain white t-shirt and a t-shirt fabric long waistcoat embellished with antique metal studs. If the rock-chick look is not for you,quinceanera dresses, then go pretty and hippy in florals. A cute flowered mini dress with gladiators will always state festival cool.

To really spice up your summer style, take tips from Angelina Jolie and Jessica Biel and sizzle in red. Angelina appeared at the Moscow premiere of ‘Salt’ in a floor length halter neck Versace scarlet dress that she dressed down with no jewellery and nude makeup to allow this statement dress to stand-alone. Jessica wore a full length Grecian style scarlet dress by Giambattista Valli at the London premiere of ‘The A Team’, which she cinched in with a black waist sash and teamed with a black clutch and diamond jewellery. In other news, keep a lookout late next year for the Kardashian sisters’ collection. They are launching their first ever collection in late 2011, working with Australian designer Bruno Schiavi. Expect a wide range of clothes from this new collection as the sisters are designing for all their different tastes with clothes for all occasions.
